It's been a little while since we've opened up our design vault to share some of the newer
custom display designs we've been producing. Since the last time we've updated the blog so much has been going on at the company-- we've acquired two companies that bring a wide range of capabilities under our umbrella-- including the ability to create custom wood millwork right here in California. That means if you need a fast prototype of your
retail display we can accommodate that plus short runs that require faster turn arounds. We've also added a full line of
promotional displays and pop signage to our line. We've also published a few new premium guides, if you are interested in current news in the pop display industry, or if you are interested in one of the most exciting opportunities for retailers (hint: its at the front end of your stores) check out our 2 new premium guides:
"After more than 50 years of indisputable stagnation, the retail industry stands poised for a major revolution in front-end merchandising. In our view, front- end merchandising represents the single greatest opportunity for performance improvement in retailing today. To date, many retailers have underperformed at the front-end, thereby failing to capitalize on a significant opportunity to increase customer satisfaction and achieve incremental shareholder value. However, a unique confluence of underlying forces at work within the industry is creating the conditions necessary to fundamentally transform historical approaches to front-end merchandising. Retailers who make revitalizing front-end merchandising a categorical strategic imperative will be best positioned to capture sustainable performance improvements while enhancing their competitive position as the battle for customer loyalty and retention increasingly separates winners and losers." - What Retailers are Doing to Win Now, and Reflections on Global Shop (Interview with our CEO Jim Hollen)
"To start with, 2010 exhibitors for Global Shop were down 30%.The attendance, they say, was up slightly over last year, but my view is that the traffic was very light so it calls in to question the value of Global Shop if it’s held on an annual basis. They should probably move it to every other year because there’s just not enough innovation that occurs year to year to make it worthwhile. I saw a lot of large retailers still there but not necessarily with the big entourage of buyers that they generally come with. They sent in smaller teams of people just to check out what’s going on. The evolution of the web and communications are making trade shows less and less important as a way for people to get ideas and communicate with their customers and suppliers. I think it’s even less relevant for product brands. We didn’t see many big brands there. We saw some smaller brands but I don’t think that it’s a show that’s tailored as much for them as it is for the retailers." Click here for instant access...
